Terms & Conditions

Please take the time to read our Terms and Conditions and sign a consent form on your first visit, by doing this we ensure your dog receives the best possible service and care whilst they are with us.

Pricing
Pricing displayed on the price are estimates and depend on the coat condition of the dog and breed size. Matted dogs will incur an extra charge, this is because it takes us slightly longer to groom the dog and matted coats can dull the clipper blades, which then have to be sent off for sharpening.

Cancellation
Houndology requires 24 hours notice if you cancel your appointment. Failure to do so will mean a cancellation fee of 50% of the appointment price.

Late Collection
Please try to collect your dog at the specified time, failure to do so will result in an extra charge of £5 for every 15 minutes.

Fleas
If fleas are found on your dog during the consultation or groom this will result in a charge of £10 as we will then need to flea shampoo your dog, and all other dogs that enter the salon on that day. We will also need to flea bomb the premises.

If you notice that your dog has fleas, please do not bring them into the salon until they have been treated and clear of fleas.

We know that dogs being dogs’ means it is possible for you to be unaware of your pet having fleas. If this is the case they may be picked up during the consultation, which we will talk to you about. If they are noticed later in the groom we will contact you to notify you. We will then use a flea shampoo to help remove the fleas and advise you on the best course of action to take.

Matting
Houndology trades under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, if your dog is matted we are advised to clip the coat short for the dogs welfare. (We will need to go short so the clipper blade can get under the matted coat). As the owner you will be notified of this during the consultation or during the groom.

Concerns
If any injury or concerns are found during the groom we will notify you and act immediately, abiding by The Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. If any dog is found to be aggressive for any reason which could result in biting and causing harm, then a muzzle may be used to prevent any injury to the groomer or dog.

Medical Conditions
If your dog has any medical conditions, traits (including sores), illnesses or aversions (e.g. they don’t like being brushed), please let us know. We can adapt the groom as much as possible and ensures we give the dog the best possible grooming experience.

Photography
We may from time to time take photos of your dog for social media, if you do not wish for them to appear on social media please let us know and we will ensure this does not happen.

Data/Information
Any data and information given to Houndology will not be passed on to any third parties and is completely confidential.

Before we groom your dog we will do a consultation, during this you can tell us what you would like your dog to look like at the end of the groom. It is also a chance for you to tell us about ailments your dog may have, or if there are things that your dog does or doesn’t like. We will do a coat check on your dog to ensure we can do the style you have requested, and it gives us a chance to check for any knots or matting, as well as fleas or sores.

We will strive to complete the groom to your requirements, however if the coat is knotty or matted this may not be the case, and we have to do what is right for the dogs welfare and take the coat shorter than planned.
